The biggest and brightest full moon of the year 2010 will be in the sky today. The moon did not gain any extra pounds, but it looks bigger as moon reaches closest to earth today due to the elliptic orbit. More details can be found in this yahoo news article.

I was checking out Scribus, an Open Source Desktop Publishing software. Found a script to generate calendars and tried out for 2010. A sample calendar can be downloaded from here. It is a 4 MB pdf file.

The Big Banyan Tree, believed to be 400 years old, is near Kengari in Bangalore. 
As the main root has fallen some time back, it looks like they are different trees.
